HALLOWEEN | BOO MIX RECIPE

This Halloween, I was on the hunt for a sweet & salty chex mix recipe, but  I didn't have much luck finding exactly what I was in the mood for. I make my own recipe using my favorite cravings and unfortunately I haven't been able to stay out of it! Keeping with my Halloween theme, the popcorn looks like skeleton skulls, the pretzel sticks like bones, and the sprinkles and reese's give it some holiday color. Besides being exceptionally tasty, I love that this mix is quick to whip up, one batch will sever many, and it's a flexible recipe so you can change it to your taste.  I will be making two batches and sending with my kids for their parties so that I don't have to worry about making a set amount of something, like 44 rice krispie squares! You will need something to serve it so check out my instructions for creating my adorable BOO Bags below!

BOO MIX INGREDIENTS
1 Package of Almond Bark
4 Cups of Chex Mix
2 Cups of Pretzel Sticks
2 Cups of Cheddar Popcorn
1 Cup of Mini Reese's Pieces
1 Cup of Mini Chocolate Chips
Halloween Sprinkles (to taste)
Sea salt (to taste)

BOO MIX INSTRUCTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, break up the almond bark and microwave in one minute increments. Take out and stir every minute, until it is completely melted. Depending on your microwave, it will be melted or close around 2-2 1/2 minutes.

Quickly pour in one at a time and stir after each: chex mix, pretzels, popcorn, reese's, and chocolate chips. Sprinkle with sea salt and Halloween sprinkles - both to taste. You'll want to have everything ready to stir in as soon as the almond bark is melted so that you can mix it before it dries. The almond bark will dry within about 5 minutes.

Once the almond bark is dry, store in an air tight container or serve it in these adorable BOO bags! This will make a very full 1 gallon zip lock bag. If tightly sealed, this recipe will keep well for about 3 days. It could last even longer if you remove the popcorn and add something in it's place like more chex or pretzels. (the popcorn will loose it's crunch quicker than the pretzels and chex)

BOO BAGS
Small White Kraft Bags
Black Card Stock
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun or Glue Dots

BOO BAG INSTRUCTIONS
Cut the top off of the kraft bags (approximately 2"). Cut out circles on your black card stock to create different mouth and eye shapes. Using your glue gun or glue dots, adhere the shapes to your bags to make ghost faces. Fill about 1/2-3/4 of the way with your BOO mix and you have a cute and yummy Halloween Treat!
